I had a pretty easy day. I arranged for shipment of the car this morning (all via internet) and did a load of laundry. Other than that, I ran a few errands, went to STARBUCKS and worked around the apartment.
At around 4:30pm I decided to watch the last two episodes of HEROES. After the second one was finished, it was a little after 6:00pm. I was feeling tired, but didn’t plan on taking a nap, because I usually leave around 6:40pm for my class and there really wasn’t time. I was just lying in bed and the next thing I knew I opened my eyes and looked at the clock. It was 6:59! DANG! I really did plan all day to go to my yoga class, even though it is “that time of the month” and I really wasn’t feeling that great.
My teacher was in India and I’m pretty sure she is now back and I was looking forward to hearing of her adventures, and now I missed it. I couldn’t believe I fell asleep. I really felt like I just closed my eyes for a minute, and then almost an hour passed!
I was disappointed, but there was nothing I could do about it, so I made some phone calls, wrote some emails, and did some paperwork until my shows came on. I was excited about THE BIGGEST LOSER and AMERICAN IDOL.
First, I watched AMERICAN IDOL. The theme for the night was Michael Jackson songs. As soon as I heard that, I cringed, because MJ is SO talented and is such an original, that singing a lot of his songs is impossible. You just can’t measure up. For the most part, I was right, but there were a few stand-outs.
Next, I watched THE BIGGEST LOSER. That show keeps me on the edge of my seat. There’s so much strategizing going on. The game changes every week and they’re always throwing in some new twist.
While watching both shows, on every commercial, I started emptying my closet. First, I went through all my shoes. I picked about 6 pairs to either sell at the garage sale or donate. Then, I started putting shoes that I won’t be wearing for the next few weeks away in the empty shoe boxes I had stored on the other side of the closet.
Next, I started taking purses down from the shelves around the bedroom. I vacuumed them off, since they get dusty up there, and then started packing them away. Since I’ll be getting the wardrobe boxes from one of the girls in HR on Thursday, I can start packing up my clothes. I will fill the bottom of the wardrobe boxes with shoe boxes and wrapped purses, and then put the clothes on the hangers on the pole on top.
I have so many purses and shoes, most of which I don’t wear, so I can pack most away and only keep what I’ll need for the next month, and what I’ll pack in my suitcase to take to NY. I will be packing away all my winter coats except one (I still have four!), hoping that by the time I arrive in NY I won’t even need that one. I haven’t worn a winter coat since the winter of 2006/2007, except for the week I was in New York at Thanksgiving. Well, it was nice while it lasted!
I feel like I got a good start on packing tonight. I know I can pack my entire bedroom in one day, and there’s more stuff in there than in any other room. I just don’t want to pack too soon, because I don’t want to be walking around amongst boxes. So, I’ll do it a little at a time. I won’t be having any more guests to the apartment, so I no longer care what it looks like, but I AM having my final inspection by the building manager in 2 weeks, and I just have to make sure he can see everything he needs to see!
I can’t believe it’s just a little over a month until I return to NY. I know how fast it will fly and soon there will be many happy reunions – the happiest of which will be when I am in the arms of my darling Eric once again!
