Starbucks, Salvation Army and Staples!

After staying home all day yesterday, I finally left the apartment this afternoon, but only because I ran out of packing tape and couldn’t do any more packing without it!  I didn’t get a very good night’s sleep last night, so after I hung up with Eric at 9:00am I went back to sleep for a while.  I finally woke up again around 11:00am, had breakfast, worked on the computer, and got ready to go out.

I drove through Starbucks (how I missed it yesterday!) and then drove to PACIFIC BEACH.  I first stopped at the SALVATION ARMY.   I wanted to find out how to get them to pick up a piece of furniture I want to donate.  It’s the entertainment center I actually bought from them last year.  I tried to sell it by putting a poster up in the laundry room, but I figure if I can get them to come pick it up, I might as well just give it away, rather than putting an ad on CRAIG’S LIST.  I have found from experience that a lot of people from Craig's List say they’re coming, but don’t show up, and I’d rather not deal with that.

After I got the information from the Salvation Army, I went to STAPLES and bought six more rolls of packing tape.  I’ve now spent about $50 on packing tape!  It’s a good thing I had all the tissue and paper from our last move, and got a lot of boxes from different people.  So, the packing tape is my only expense – so far!

When I got back I spent the rest of the afternoon packing until Rosemary picked me up for dinner at 6:15pm.  We went to IMPERIAL MANDARIN, our favorite Chinese Restaurant on Convoy.  We had our usual – we shared fried wontons and she had Kung Pao Chicken, while I had the Kung Pao Shrimp.

Rosemary told me about a group she went to with another girl from work where there’s a medium who helps you connect with your angels.  I thought this was very interesting as I am very interested in angels and believe they are all around us, helping us and guiding us.  I believe that our angels are all the people we love who have passed.  They continue to love us and support us on the other side.  We had a long discussion about our different views on this and other similar subjects.  Rosemary is the one I went with to see Charlotte, the psychic, and she and I are both very interested in this type of thing.

Rosemary also told me that she and her sister, Lisa, whom I have met several times and is also really sweet, would like to come visit us in NY in the spring of 2010.  I was so excited about that.  The thought of having a San Diego friend visit in NY made me very happy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and each took home enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow.  Delicious AND good company!  It was a lot of fun.

After dinner we drove just a few blocks to TARGET, so Rosemary could pick up a few items.  Then, she dropped me off back at home.  I’ll see her again Wednesday, at the HR luncheon.

When I got in I started blogging, and then watched DANCING WITH THE STARS and MEDIUM.  I really had the urge to do more packing, but it just makes too much noise and isn’t fair to my neighbors.

Tomorrow I have to make another trip to the post office.  I tried for the second time to register my change of address online.  The first time it didn’t work and I went to the post office.  They told me that it was because Eric had just gotten the keys and it might not be in the system yet.  I waited 4 days and tried again today.  I’m going to try again tomorrow, but if it doesn’t work I’m going back there with the hand-written form filled out.  Sometimes the old way is still the best way!
